Melissa Tessler

Melissa  is a strategic member of Gilbert’s Slingshot group where she specializes in corporate, commercial, and entertainment law. With a diverse practice, Melissa works with a wide range of creative and innovative clients, including producers, actors, writers, artists, restaurant owners, breweries, event producers, marketing professionals, charities, software companies, and other small- to medium-sized businesses. She provides expert advice on all facets of their legal needs, from negotiating agreements and settlements to developing creative solutions for complex challenges.

With over 10 years of experience in civil and commercial litigation, international law, human rights, and indigenous rights, Melissa brings a unique perspective to her clients. Her background in litigation allows her to foresee potential risks and provide strategic counsel to help businesses avoid future legal issues.

Melissa also has a background in media and journalism, which provides her with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by clients in the documentary and media space, particularly around issues like copyright and defamation. Combining her diverse experience and deep curiosity in her clients’ business goals, Melissa provides tailored legal advice to navigate legal challenges of any size.

Outside of work, Melissa can be found exploring city streets and mountains all over the world. An avid hiker, photographer and former yoga and meditation instructor.  These interests allow her to maintain balance in her personal and professional life, bringing mindfulness and clarity to her work with clients.
